Yongnuo coming out with a 28mm f/1.8C STM for Canon EF
It seems that Yongnuo is coming out with another budget lens for the Canon EF mount, this time a 28mm 1.8C STM. I assume that the "C" means Canon version and that there probably will be a Nikon version of this lens as well.
No word on price but Yongnuo lenses are usually quite inexpensive. To compensate for that, the lenses are usually not of the highest quality. However, there are times when all you are doing is shooting stopped down to F/8, or want a cheaper lens for shooting that something like this may be totally suitable.
One thing that annoys me a bit personally is Yongnuo's decision to wrap the lens around with a red ring. I think that can be slightly misleading to consumers that are used of Canon's signature red line around their L lenses.
One of the few holes in Canon's lineup is a refreshed current lineup of F1.8 primes. The 28, 85 are from the 90's film ear, and even the newer 50mm STM sports the same optical formula dating back to the '90s in the film era.
The core specifications will most likely be similar to Canon's older 28mm 1.8 lens that Canon still sells even though they came out with a newer Canon EF 28mm 2.8 IS USM.
By the looks of the picture, it seems that the Yongnuo is measurably larger than Canon's 28mm 1.8, so perhaps the optical formula has been improved.
