Not everyone is excited about the 1DX Mark III
Everyone seems like they are pretty hyped about the 1DX Mark III.
But not everyone. Pye Jirsa of SLR Lounge definitely has a different take on the camera, stating three reasons why he's not too happy about the 1DX Mark III.
- It doesn't use RF lenses (one of which is Pye's favorite lenses)
- Powerful upgrade for cinematographers, but not so much for photographers.
- Form factor: durable, but heavy and bulky which is becoming a thing of the past.
It sounds like Pye needs a new RF camera.
What do you think?
I think the 1DX Mark III is an important 2020 camera. Especially with the Toyko Olympics, for those users and for professionals that still have a legacy EF ecosystem.
While I can personally agree with point 1, possibly point 2, I think point 3 is a bit out of touch when you consider the usual primary users of these cameras, the vast majority of weight and bulk of the kit is in the lenses that they use. The durability is demanded by the professionals that use these cameras. Which is also why there is a place for the popular 5D series and the upcoming more professional level R series camera bodies.
