Lensrentals tears apart an EOS R
Roger Cicala of Lensrentals blogs about tearing down the EOS R, and seeing how it's all put together.
I find it interesting that there was a fair amount of room left inside of the camera, speaking to perhaps more powerful cameras in the RF mount in the future, perhaps with dual digic, better weather sealing, etc.
It wasn't fully weather sealed, it relies a lot on polycarbonate pieces firmly attaching together to form a seal, versus actually having gaskets such as what Canon's more higher end professional camera bodies have.
In other words, even with the build quality, the EOS R does not match up well to the 5D Mark IV series camera bodies.
