Canon's next esoteric lens - a pretty wild Fisheye

Nokishita is stating that Canon's next lens is a 5.2mm F2.8L fisheye lens.  They are calling it a dual fisheye which is usually used for 360 degree work. But how does that work on an ILC?  So I doubt it's a 360 camera lens.

One thing it just might be is a patent application we found a while ago.  It's certainly a "dual fisheye".  The specifications pretty much match the patent application as well.  If that is the case, we're going to get something that looks similar to the above image from the patent application.

The projection onto the image sensor will be two circular images, and this would be processed for your VR stereoscopic video.

This lens would certainly keep up Canon's motto on the RF mount - which is basically "Because we can" when it comes to lens designs.
