Canon Patent Application on focus stacking and image stabilization

Canon released a patent application detailing focus stacking in camera, and the effect of image stabilization during the repetitive focus steps and how they want to go about improving how focus stacking is performed.  Their area of concern is the plane of focus shifting too much because of camera shake, and how they calculate the amount of shifting the focus during periods of high camera shake.

This would be interesting because to date, no Canon camera to my knowledge has focus stacking built into it and this would imply on a credible hand held focus stack capability is being looked at that combines IS and AF on sensor.

This patent also again deals and identifies sensors using a quad pixel auto focus format.
