Canon adds 5 New Image Sensors to it's Product List

Canon has added 5 new image sensors to their portfolio.

It appears like some of these sensors are new to third party sales, but it also seems like some of them have existed in previous Canon cameras or video cameras.

12MP 1 Inch CMOS 4K Sensor

This sensor is a 1-inch color CMOS solid-state image sensor with 12 million effective pixels in a square pixel array. It supports read speeds of 24 fps when reading all pixels.

  • Sensitivity - 22,000 e/lx/sec @Analog gain x1 (TBD)
  • Sensor Size - 1 inch
  • Number of Effective Pixels - 4000x 3000 (Horizontal x Vertical)
  • Pixel Size - 3.2 um x 3.2 um
  • Shutter - Rolling shutter 12 bit, 24 fps (All Pixels)
  • Maximum Frame Rate - 10 bit, 60 fps (4K2K)
  • Saturation 22,000 e (TBD) @ Analog gain x 1
  • Dark Random Noise - 2.8 e rms @Analog gain x16 (TBD)
  • Dark Current - 17 e/sec (TBD) @package reverse side 60℃
  • Drive Frequency - 27 MHz (recommended)
  • Output Channels - Data: 12 lanes, Clock: 2 lanes
  • Output Format - LVDS output maximum 648 Mbps @12 bit

12MP 1/1.7 Inch CMOS Sensor

This sensor is a color CMOS solid-state image sensor of 1/1.7-inch size (9.3 mm measured diagonally) with 12 million effective pixels in a square pixel array. It can capture 4K2K video at 30 fps and 12-megapixel still images.

2.8MP 1/2.32 Inch High Dynamic range CMOS Sensor

3U3MRXSAA is a CMOS type of solid-state image sensor with a 1/2.32 inch effective pixel array of 2.81M pixels. It uses a rolling electronic shutter for video to control the charge storage period. It can output an effective 1936 x 1456 pixels of video at 60 fps and 12bit via 4 channels of digital signal output. It includes HDR ( High Dynamic Range)  drive features. 3U3MRXSAAC has an RGB on-chip color filter.

Super 35mm 4K 9.34MP CMOS Sensor

This sensor is a color CMOS solid-state image sensor of Super 35 mm size (30 mm measured diagonally) with 9.24 million effective pixels in a square pixel array. It supports speeds of 60 fps when reading all pixels, enabling high-sensitivity 4K

Full Frame 50MP CMOS Sensor

This sensor is a full size color CMOS solid-state image sensor (43.2 mm measured diagonally) with 50.6 million effective pixels in a square pixel array. It delivers high definition, low noise, and reduced dark current.
