Canon EOS R5 Mark II New Firmware Available
Firmware Version 1.0.3 is available
Firmware for the Canon EOS R5 Mark II has been made available and is slowly being updated on Canon's various websites. These seem to be the same fixes that Canon implemented on its EOS R1 firmware update 1.0.2, which was also done today.
Firmware version 1.0.3 is a very modest release with just a few adjustments. Canon has adjusted the display of the internal camera temperature warning indicator and some issues that the camera had with autofocus in specific zoom ranges (those ranges are not listed).
You can view the firmware version release notes below;
Firmware Version 1.0.3 incorporates the following enhancement and fix:
1. Optimizes the timing of the camera's display of its internal camera temperature warning indicator.
2. Fixes an issue that may interfere with the camera's ability to focus properly when using AF (autofocus) in certain zoom ranges.
If the camera's firmware is Version 1.0.1, please update the firmware with only one memory card inserted into the camera.
If the camera's firmware is already Version 1.0.3, it is not necessary to update the firmware.
Preparations for a firmware update:
After the downloaded compressed file (.zip) is extracted, a firmware folder is created.
*Extracting the downloaded file:
Right-click the zip file, and then select Extract All to extract the file.
In the folder you downloaded are the firmware (R5210300.FIR / file size: 257,753,120 bytes) and instructions on the firmware update procedures (a PDF file in five languages: Japanese, English, French, Spanish, and Simplified Chinese). Before starting the firmware update operations, please be sure to carefully review the instructions to confirm your understanding of the firmware update procedures.
