Laowa announces the Argus 30mm F.95 for Canon RF APS-C

Laowa has announced the Argus 33mm F.95 APS-C and curiously, it's available for the Canon RF mount, but not the EOS-M mount.  They have this labeled as an APO lens, so we'd expect no chromatic aberration with this lens.  With a super-fast .95 aperture, that's quite an achievement.  According to Laowa the lens incorporates one Extra-low Dispersion Glass, one Aspherical Lens and three Ultra High Refraction Glass to minimize the chromatic aberration.

The Canon RF mount is expected to be available around mid-May and the price is $499.  You can purchase directly from Laowa here.

This is a manual focus and manual aperture (stepless) lens there is no electronic communication with the Canon RF mount.

From Laowa;

Laowa Argus 33mm f/0.95 CF APO is a magnificent f/0.95 Standard lens for the Cropped Frame(APS-C) camera. Achieving the APO design, enjoy the clear images with well controlled chromatic aberration. The ultra-fast aperture lens with APO is perfect for low light photography, shallow depth of field portrait and narrative videography. It is blessed with crystal clear details, extraordinary sharpness and exquisite bokeh.

How to view Japan Patent applications.

Unfortunately, there's no direct way of linking to the patent application (sad!) however, this is the easiest process to view a japan patent or application.

  1. Go to the Japan Patent Office search page.
  2. If it's a patent application (they are usually in the format of Year-Number ie: 2017-011300) then type the patent application number into the second field down from the top where it says publication of patent application.
  3. Click on search.
  4. Then click on the patent application number link, and there's the patent application!
