Important to remember, there's more stuff being added to the EOS R after release
Canon will be augmenting the EOS R fairly rapidly after initial release. So perhaps take some of the consternation of initial preview reports with a slight grain of salt.
It's expected that the firmware update will occur a few months after the October release. Perhaps Canon did rush this ahead of their initial planned release date?
What's coming;
- Eye detect AF in continuous shooting mode
- Additional touch bar functionality
- Silent mode continuous shooting
- Some small fixes to 4K video. Please note that changing the crop factor is not one of them, that's not a small fix.
- And of course, any bug fixes that are found
