BCN Monthly Data for July 2019

BCN, who is one of the largest sales data collection companies in Japan, has released its summary data for the month of July.

There is a new #1 camera sold in Japan, and Nikon takes the prize with the D5600 double zoom kit carrying home the gold.

The KISS X9i or the Rebel T7I / 800D depending on where you are from, carries home the silver after being unseated by Nikon.

The EOS M50 remains a strong #3.  It has been there since almost its inception.  However, there are strong challengers to the EOS-M50, namely the Sony A6400 which has jumped from #9 spot to #4 spot for the month of July.

An interesting element to note that all of the top 13 selling camera kits are double lens zooms - I guess Japan buyers love a bargain and the versatility of that the kits provide.

On the full-frame front, the Sony A7 III (position 18) continues it's complete dominance, with the EOS R significantly trailing, and for the first time, a Nikon Z camera appears on the list, one position behind the EOS R (32 and 33 respectively)

How to view Japan Patent applications.

Unfortunately, there's no direct way of linking to the patent application (sad!) however, this is the easiest process to view a japan patent or application.

  1. Go to the Japan Patent Office search page.
  2. If it's a patent application (they are usually in the format of Year-Number ie: 2017-011300) then type the patent application number into the second field down from the top where it says publication of patent application.
  3. Click on search.
  4. Then click on the patent application number link, and there's the patent application!
