A new major CINI camera coming for NAB 2018?

Canon Rumors suggests that Canon will launch a major new product at NAB next year.

That in itself doesn't seem like a major surprise as the C500 hasn't been updated since it's release, and 4K is lacking from the lower end of the product line. There's also the 1DC and if Canon wants to make a more video centric DSLR in the CINI lineup.

There's alot of holes in the current Cini lineup.

Also there's what is looming up for Canon and the rest of the Japanese Camera industry - the 2020 Olympics.  Canon will have to have 8K products out more sooner than later to support the Japan 2020 Olympics. You know they aren't going to miss that one.

How to view Japan Patent applications.

Unfortunately, there's no direct way of linking to the patent application (sad!) however, this is the easiest process to view a japan patent or application.

  1. Go to the Japan Patent Office search page.
  2. If it's a patent application (they are usually in the format of Year-Number ie: 2017-011300) then type the patent application number into the second field down from the top where it says publication of patent application.
  3. Click on search.
  4. Then click on the patent application number link, and there's the patent application!
