CanonNews / Saturday, December 30, 2017 / Categories: Canon Patents Will the next series of TS-E's include IS? We discovered this patent today rather by accident that discusses adding IS elements to a tilting lens. I personally will look forward to Northlight talking about this, since he's such a great resource on all things tilt shift. Japan Patent Application 2017-227697 deals with the wiring of the IS elements that tilt and move with the corresponding tilt of the lens. Specifically how to optimize that because to provide the flexible interconnects necessary for the IS unit would increase complexity. As with all patent applications, this is something that Canon is researching, it may never end up on a finished lens. However, personally this would be an exciting development for tilt shift lenses.
