CanonNews / Monday, January 20, 2020 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless Viltrox EOS-M Primes Delayed - Update We queried Viltrox to see what the new production schedule is for the Viltrox primes. We received a response back that was not too encouraging. Our new lens was originally planned to be released by the end of 2019. but because many problems of the lens have not been solved, we need to make sure that there is no problem with the new lens after release.. In case you haven't been following along. Last year in August, Viltrox announced a set of 3 primes that would be available for the EF-M, Sony E and Fuji X mounts. These lenses would be 23mm, 33mm and 56mm focal lengths. All of them with a nice F1.4 maximum aperture and they also would have autofocus. The price was going to be very economical at around $250-$275 for each lens. We hope that Viltrox will resolve the problems and release these lenses, I look forward to trying them out in the near future. In the meantime, if you have the need for prime speed on the EOS-M lineup, you have 4 incredible lenses to choose from; Canon EF-M 32mm F1.4 - This lens is "it". Call it near L quality and be done with it. Sigma has also released a widely acclaimed trio of lenses for the EF-M mount this last year, they are all shipping and available. These lenses are also excellent. Sigma 16mm F1.4 Sigma 30mm F1.4 Sigma 56mm F1.4 Update: New information indicates that these lenses will be available before March 21.
