CanonNews / Saturday, July 4, 2020 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless Sneak look: EOS R5 8K recording options EOSHD has leaked the 8K recording options for the R5, and they are looking quite good, and extensive. You can shoot in either 8K DCI or 8K Ultra these of course are slightly different resolutions, but this also solidly confirms that the R5's sensor is 45MP, since that is necessary to support DCI recording. DCI at least for 4K is 4096x 2160 while Ultra is 3840 x 2160. Atypically DCI is a movie standard, and Ultra is the dominant resolution for TVs. So for 8K that would be 8192 x 4320 and 7680x4320. Also 8K seems to support both 24p and 25p (PAL) which most likely means that you'll also get 30p 8K recording for NTSC recording. As far as codecs, you have All-I and IPB as well as RAW recording. There was also some other video related information; 8K30p and 4K120p - there is no crop. No dual recording to both cards No heating issues with 20 minutes of 8K recording (wow).
