CanonNews / Wednesday, February 9, 2022 / Categories: News, Industry News SIGMA hopes to add a new mount this year During the presentation of Sigma's new 20mm F2 DG DN lens for the Panasonic L and Sony FE mount. President Kazuto answered questions from users. Someone asked about X-mount and SIGMA, to which Kazuto replied; From the standpoint of a lens manufacturer, I always want to support as many mounts as possible. I can't say which mount, but I think I might be able to add at least one (mount) this year. Please wait for the official announcement. It certainly doesn't mean the RF mount would be next, but the RF or the Z mount would be two mounts on which SIGMA would be focused - let's face it, they want to sell their full-frame and CINI lenses, and those two systems right now would have the most bang for the buck for Sigma since both of them lack a full lens catalog. Creating lenses for Sigma's APS-C lineup to Fuji would be less advantageous as the lenses are cheaper and Fuji lens catalog is much more competitive. Because of supply shortages, I wouldn't expect anything soon, but if Sigma keeps with their pattern we would first see the EF catalog made "RF-ized" followed by lenses manufactured specifically for mirrorless. However, a start to this would be excellent.
