CanonNews / Thursday, May 24, 2018 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless Rumor: Canon testing three different resolution sensors for Mirrorless A new rumors suggests that Canon is prototyping and testing three different resolutions in it's prototype mirrorless cameras, 24, 28 and 36mp. As a caveat, this could nothing more than a "me too" rumor because Sony offers three different resolutions to it's mirrorless full frame line, or it also could be in order to help clamp down on leaks, so take the information with a grain of salt. Very likely canon shoves various sensors into test units to see how the cameras fare out in the wild, it doesn't mean canon will release three mirrorless cameras, it could simply be the sensors they had a the time. With Canon doing it's own sensor fab, they can literally make a sensor with any resolution they wish to in low volumes. CR states; It’s no secret that Canon is hard at work on prosumer mirrorless cameras, including at least one full frame mirrorless camera. We’re told that three sensors are being tested in various camera body configurations, each with a different pixel count. The source claims that 24mp, 28mp and 36mp sensors are being used. There is no mention if these are all new sensors or if they are modified versions of current image sensors.
