CanonNews / Tuesday, July 21, 2020 / Categories: Rumors, Canon DSLR New Rumor: There will not be a 5D Mark V A new rumor has surfaced from CanonRumors that states there will not be a 5D Mark V to replace the now-aging 5D Mark IV. I'm sure some would be quite disappointed to know that the 5D Mark IV is the last of it's kind and were probably hoping to get the R5 with a 5D body and optical viewfinder. According to the source, the development of the 5D Mark V was stopped some time ago. Personally, I get the people wanting the 5D Mark V - and even Nikon seems to be doing a "you get to choose" approach with new DSLR releases, but Canon clearly wants people to move over from the EF mount to the RF mount as quickly and as smoothly as possible. For those still on the fence especially about optical viewfinders versus the newer EVF's .. maybe when the R5 is released, it's a good time to rent an R5 and an EF adapter for a week and see if you can use the higher resolution EVF with minimal problems.
