New Rumor: APS-C RF Camera coming in late 2021

Another rumor about an APS-C RF camera has surfaced, and this time the source seems to think that it's coming in the second half of 2021.  CanonRumors has given this a CR3 and I know he doesn't give too many sources a CR3 out of the gate this far away from the product announcement, so I think we should treat this a credible rumor.

One curious note is that the source says that Canon won't focus on RF-S lenses at all, and make lenses "that suit APS-C and full frame".  Think our 17-70mm patent application discovery as an example.  While this would be good, it's not good for those that want a compact system.  There is just no way Canon is going to cheat physics and come up with a small lens that performs well on both full frame and crop.  Even the 17-70mm patent application shows a lens that is 140mm long, versus, for instance, the Nikkor Z DX kit lens which is 32 mm long.  Slight difference.

Could this simply be the 90D / 7D that people seem to want for the RF Mount? Perhaps. It would explain why perhaps it's showing up after the super telephotos are most likely are available.

It's also far enough out that Canon can judge if it's even necessary, the R5, possibly R5s, and the R1 may make the R7 a little less necessary.

What does this mean for the EOS-M? Not much. If Canon isn't going to create RF-S lenses, then the EOS-M system will remain for those that want a small system.
