CanonNews / Tuesday, March 17, 2020 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless More information surfaces on the Canon EOS R6 More information has surfaced on the EOS R6. From the looks of it, it's a lower cost model similar to the structure that existed with DSLR's with the 5D and 6D. I know some people were waiting for a high performance low MP camera, but I'm afraid you're going to have to wait for the RF 1 series camera for that. Current specifications from CanonRumors include the following. The updated specifications are bolded. 20mp full-frame CMOS sensor IBIS 12fps mechanical and 20fps electronic. 4K @ 60p FullHD @ 120p Dual card slots No top-down screen Lower resolution EVF than the EOS R5 Build quality not as good as the EOS R5 New battery (Not sure if it’s the same as the EOS R5) June 2020 launch (We think a May announcement) Personally I think this is Canon aiming very squarely at the A7 and the Z 6 series cameras. I am curious about their decision on 20MP. Usually, Canon aims higher on MP's than the competition, not sneaking in lower. While 20 versus 24MP doesn't mean much in reality, there's the marketing perception. CanonRumors is still expecting an announcement around the Photokina time frame. I personally doubt that Europe will be settled down with COVID-19 for PhotoKina to go on. However, regardless of the show, Canon is likely to keep to their announcement schedule, even if manufacturing is somewhat delayed.
