The 11-22 *is* a mere 18-35 in full frame equivalence, so some improvement could be made - only if it's optically as excellent as the 11-22. Here we have a 9-18 4-5.6 mirrorless lens patent application. The primary goal was to make the focus group as small as possible to allow for faster AF on mirrorless contrast detection styled camera systems .. aka Mirrorless and also video. Which is a notable omission. It could very well be that this is a defensive patent, and one that won't see the light of day. However, as a self-proclaimed UWA bigot, I'd love to have a wider lens than the 11-22.
