Interesting Rumor: EOS-M camera has entered certification

So what's so interesting about that?

No EOS-M camera since the EOM-M2 has been done by the "DSLR" group and labeled with a DSLR/EOS moniker.

So why do I think it's important that now, according to the data from Nokishita that this camera that is out for certification is a) the EF-M mount and b) a "DS126843"

Because the EOS-M seems to have gone back to mainstream - this could mean a few things;

  1. Canon is getting rid of the powershot group because really no one uses compacts anymore
  2. This DS126843 has gone upscale ie: M7
  3. Since the success of the M50 Canon has decided that the EOS-M isn't some lost child anymore.

So I happen to think that something happened here because an EOS-M Camera should have started with a "PC" model number.

What is also interesting is that Noksihita mentions a "terminal" does this mean PC-SYNC or remote control port? Both of which wouldn't necessarily be on an M50 which would strike me as more proof that this is possibly an M7. (This turns out to be a mis-translation)

The battery is only an LP-E12 however, which would indicate to me that they are maintaining the M's smaller size and not putting a full fledged battery such as the LP-E6 into it.

That all being said, we can expect an EOS-M announcement to come in the following few weeks.
