CanonNews / Friday, June 28, 2019 / Categories: Rumors, Canon Mirrorless G7X Mark III Specifications and Images Leaked Nokishita has leaked the core specifications and images of the upcoming G7X Mark III. At first glance, it seems to be a high-performance little camera with up to 30fps in RAW mode. Interestingly, this appears to be a Sony sensor because it's BSI and not DPAF. This is unfortunate as we were hoping this camera would show the start of the next generation of Canon sensors. I'm curious to see how they managed 30 fps in RAW mode if it is lower bit depth or reduced image size. It sounds like Canon is using a newer generation of the Sony 1 inch sensor then they have in the past. Just by doing napkin math if that's full image size, and 14 bit raw, we're talking about around 600mega pixels per second, which is almost three times as much data as the EOS R that floats in at 240mega pixels per second. That would be pretty conclusive proof that for fast FPS the bottleneck isn't DIGIC, but Canon's sensors themselves. It could also be that they are using a Sony 1" stacked sensor with memory to shoot a very short burst of 30 fps, which gets stored in the sensor memory, and then over the course of 4-5 seconds stored via DIGIC. I'll be very curious to see the detailed specifications on this 30 fps burst mode. As far as timing, I would guess that this will be released next week since once Nokishita releases images, the release of the camera is very soon.
