CanonNews / Tuesday, April 2, 2019 / Categories: Reviews, Third Party Reviews DPReview: Interview with Canon lens designers DPReview sat down with Canon's lens designers back when the 6 RF lenses were announced on February 14th. Some notable points from the interview; The biggest challenge for Canon is the RF mount and coming out with a new system of lenses Looking to deliver surprise factors with the lens releases so far. (The 28-70, 50mm, etc) The larger than EF-M / FE mount in the RF system allowed for the design of the 70-200 and making it so small. The 70-200 (as we know) doesn't use Diffractive Optics elements DS applies a coating to an element. It adds difficulty because it changes the luminance and loses some transmittance through the lens. Canon feels the 35mm 1.8 and the upcoming 24-240mm are good matches to the EOS RP Faster communication to the RF mount allows for DLO notes to be stored in the lens, and also will allow for hybrid IS between IS in the lens and IS in the body Canon is still actively developing EOS M and DLSR camera bodies.
