Canon states it may be a while to get your R3

Canon announced in Japan that they are continuing to have significant supply chain issues with the R3 and The R14-35mm F4L IS USM. Now Canon is being a little clearer and stating that your order may take up to 6 months to deliver because of demand and supply chain problems.

Currently, we have received orders for each of the following products in excess of expectations, and due to the impact of global parts supply, delivery delays are occurring. We apologize for the inconvenience caused to our customers and business partners.
The products are scheduled to be shipped one by one, but it is expected that it will take a lot of time for the new camera body EOS R3 and RF lens RF14-35mm F4 L IS USM.
We sincerely apologize for the long wait for our long-awaited customers. We will continue to take measures to ensure a stable supply of products so that we can deliver our products as soon as possible. Thank you kindly look forward for your understanding.

There was almost a perfect storm of conditions that affected chip foundries from storms, fires, trade embargos, and a pandemic. I dare say that not much more have gone wrong for the global chip supply chain.

Also what this could have a direct impact is on any predictions or future cameras slated to come out in 2022. Expect cameras expected to come out next year to be pushed forward into 2023 instead.

I still don't know what the eye cups and lens hoods have to do with chip shortages though, and as I mentioned the last time all this came up, please don't ask me either ;)
