Canon shows off their upcoming 8K Cinema Camera

After the EOS R5 was released, it seem to be Canon's worst kept secret that 8K would be coming to the EOS Cinema line.

In this video that Canon released, the 8K cinema camera is discussed and actually shown.

What I find interesting is that the body looks more like the C300 Mark II than it does the Mark III. It nearly looks identical to the C300 Mark II.

Compare the two below with the screenshot from the video shown above.  This is the C300 Mark II.

Meanwhile, if we look at the side view of the C300 Mark III, it shows an entirely different layout.

This makes me wonder if the camera body they are showing in the video is a prototype, where they took a C300 Mark II and stuffed 8K inside of it, or if actually, the newest greatest cinema camera that Canon will come up with will be based upon a prior generation ergonomics.

Canon usually cares about things like this, so I'm intrigued to see what actually happens.

Looking at the snapshot with a prime lens and more of a side view it certainly appears as if there is no EF to RF adapter, so it's probably a good guess that Canon is sticking with EF for this video camera.

Watch the video below, and don't be surprised to see this released for NAB 2021.
