Canon R3 appears to be a 24MP camera

Like we said all along...

Someone managed to get their hands on the EXIF information from an image shot with an R3 over on CanonRumors, and it appears as if it's a 24MP sensor.  Neal Smith posted this image(s) in the forums showing the details from an R3 image.

It really does stand to reason given Canon's marketing, and this is something we've more or less thought of since the information started to come out.  Professionals liked having smaller resolutions for portability and quick transfers, they were also resisting higher resolutions for the 1 series cameras in the past.  Canon would have also said something with respects to video by now if it shot 30-45 or more megapixels.

Frankly, the number of rumors surrounding the resolution got to the point that I simply didn't even want to post on them anymore until something substantial was released.  It was getting a bit much.

I know some people are hoping (or wishing) that the R1 will be some ultra-high MP camera, but I wouldn't be expecting that either.  Canon may do a 45MP sensor there for 8K resolutions, but I really doubt we'll see higher than that.  Simply being, any camera with 1 series ergonomics is going to have to be tailored for those professionals that for the most part, don't want high resolutions.

I still personally feel that if you want ultra-high resolutions, Canon will do an R5s or something similar sporting something in the range of 80 to 120MP, but at this time, it's really anyone's guess.

I guess let the rumors start that it's the Sony A9 sensor now. Oh, let's not forget that Canon is Doomed.
