CanonNews / Thursday, May 3, 2018 / Categories: Canon Patents Canon patent application that illustrates a hybrid DSLR and Quad Pixel AF Sensors This is an intense patent and I've read though it a few times and i'm not entirely sure I know all the nuances to the it. However was some interesting examples shown that had some obvious implications in other possible places. This patent seems to be dealing with mutiple parallax images for computational photography and their storage and use. One interesting element is that they are clearly defining Quad Pixel AF sensors in this patent and the problems with four composite images to derive the full resultant image. The other part that is interesting is on the example diagram they clearly identify a DSLR by items 104, and 108 and at the same time mention and have illustrated an EVF driving circuit and EVF at 117 and 118. Could this mean that Canon is seriously looking at hybrid systems and having quad pixel arrays in the future? It could be.
