Canon Patent Application Accidental lens turning prevention in G series compacts

In this Canon Patent application, a G series compact camera is illustrated.

This compact camera has both a zoom ring and a focus ring, and Canon is concerned that with the smaller size of the lens body, that if you turn one control dial you can accidentally turn the other at the same time.

A first rotation operation member 111 provided at a near position and a second rotation operation member 112 provided at a position farther than the first rotation operation member with respect to the imaging apparatus main body, When the operation of the member is detected, the operation of the second rotary operation member is invalidated for a predetermined time

The G Series compact illustrated is the G1X Mark II compact camera.  As with all patent applications it illustrates what Canon is researching, and not particularly what they are releasing to the general public.
