CanonNews / Wednesday, October 23, 2019 / Categories: Rumors, Canon DSLR 1DX Mark III - a little more information - UPDATE Information is trickling in with the 1DX Mark III. It is expected to be officially announced sometime early in 2020, but to be honest, since Nikon has done a development announcement for the D6, and Sony has come out with the A9 II, it would not surprise me to see a development announcement this month as we suggested before. We haven't heard anything concrete, but the way Canon has been with leaks - outside of some notable gaffs, this could easily sneak upon us. According to Canon Rumors, the trickle of details include; There will be a new battery for the Canon EOS-1D X Mark III, and it will have a “new feature”. Optical viewfinder, but there will be more information available within it. 61 autofocus points, all cross-type with a “slightly” larger spread Similar top-down LCD to the EOS R This is certainly going to be a DSLR, and it's certainly going to be EF mount. Those waiting for a 1 series RF camera will have to wait until 2021. Update: As soon as we posted, Canon Rumors updated their post, with more information; Update: Almost immediately after we posted this report, we were told by an anonymous source that Canon will address the EOS-1D X Mark III very soon. Is there a development announcement coming? We have not confirmed this with any known sources yet. As we mentioned above, this would seem hardly a surprise given the D6 and A9 II announcements. Update 2: Canon Rumors is stating they've seen some images of the 1DX Mark III, and that it's slightly different than the 1DX Mark II. Nokishita has reported that a "overseas" news site has created a hidden article with the title of "Canon revealed[reveals the] EOS-1D X Mark III" This is leading me to think that we'll see a development announcement tonight from Canon.
