Canon Patent Application: New C700 Styled Video Camera Body

In this patent application, Canon is attempting to provide a better wiring layout for shoulder-mounted video cameras.  The idea is not to increase the width of the camera, keeping its size down.  Canon is concerned that the more cables you have the more chance they are accidentally caught as the cameraperson moves around with the camera on their shoulder.  In Canon patent speak;

When the number of connectors is further increased, if the connectors are arranged on the side surface of the camera body, the connectors are likely to come off due to the cable being caught when the camera body is moved while being carried on the shoulder.
On the other hand, if all the connectors are arranged on the back surface of the camera body, the size of the camera body in the width direction is further increased, and the shape becomes unsuitable for a shoulder-mounted professional digital video camera.

At first, I thought this was the C700, however, it's certainly a different port configuration than the C700.  Here's the layout of the C700 with the side-mounted LCD showing the port configuration.

Since the filing date of this patent application was last September and the C700 was released in 2018, this is certainly something that Canon is thinking about improving on possibly the next generation of C700 styled CINI Cameras.
