NiSi Optics announces a 15mm F4 for the Canon RF mount
NiSi just announced a new ultra wide-angle for the Canon RF mount and other mounts. This lens reminds me of the old film days Tokina 17mm F3.5. It looks so very much like that lens.
I should mention that I loved that Tokina lens, I probably shot well over 50,000 images using that on my 20D and later on my 5D Classic.
This looks fully manual but at 15mm and an F4, stop this down a bit and basically you are F5.6 and "be there".
Some of the core features include;
- Create Beautiful Sunstars from f/4 to f/22
- Full-Frame Mirrorless Format
- Aperture Range: f/4 to f/22
- Manual Focus Operation
- Double-sided aspherical element
- 112° wide field of view
- Compatible with 100mm filter systems
- Premium all metal construction
- High definition optical glass elements
The optical elements look quite complex for this lens and the relative price of $549.00, 12 elements in 10 groups with one double aspherical element (orange) and two extra-low dispersion elements (light blue).
They have made the manual available and I've included it below for you to download.
Looking at the MTF's shown below for wide open and F8 (thanks to PhotoRumors), the lens looks very impressive having a very reasonable drop off at the corners, even wide open at F4. If the lens QA is decent, this lens is a must buy for any RF kit.
